Roman Ionic Columns
Capitals & Bases
Roman Ionic is one of the 3 Greek orders
of columns beginning in the mid 6th century BC.
It's distinct scrolls or volutes are the main feature.
The top ring of the column is part of the capitals
usually depicted with an egg and dart profile.
The base is always an Attic Style Column Base
Imperial Productions sells both load bearing &
decorative Roman Ionic columns.
Shafts can be Fluted, Smooth or Rope profiles.
In the 18th Century the two scrolls became 4
as seen in Scamozzi Columns.
Roman Ionic columns can be used in classical design
or can be a great accent in Modern architecture to
add a bit of life to the design.
